The Michigan State football coaching staff is again turning to Damion Terry to simulate the dual-threat skills of an opposing quarterback.

Last year, the Cathedral Prep graduate imitated Michigan’s Devin Gardner in practice.

As Kyle Austin wrote in an mlive.com story today, Terry now is simulating the ever dangerous Marcus Mariota against the Spartans’ No. 1 defense¬†in advance of Saturday night’s showdown with No. 3 Oregon.

Terry, the Spartans’ No. 3 quarterback,¬†made his MSU debut last week in a blowout win over Jacksonville State. The redshirt freshman completed 1-of-3 pass attempts for 13 yards and rushed five times for 21 yards.

Prior to the opener, there had been talk of Michigan State’s coaches developing an offensive package to utilize Terry’s versatile skills. However, no such package was utilized against Jacksonville State. It’s not clear if Terry will play a bigger role for No. 7 Michigan State on Saturday against the Ducks.
