Starr shot her heavy-beamed 10-point Dec. 2 from 200 yards in French Creek Township, Venango County.

Starr received the most votes in public voting Jan. 23-31 at GoErie.com/deeroftheyear. She narrowly beat Marilee Egli, of Girard, in the eight-deer field.

She wins a Game Tag Protector from Wolfgang Products of Saegertown as the monthly prize.

Starr also now joins October winner Bruce Stevens, of Lake City; November winner Dan Rensel, of Erie; and December winner Shane Weed, of Waterford, as a finalist in the  NWPA Outdoors Deer of the Year Contest. The four monthly winners will vie for the title starting Feb. 4, when public voting opens at the contest web site. The public vote and editors’ votes will be taken into consideration when determining the winner.

The grand prize is a Pelican ProGear S140 Sport Elite Tablet Backpack valued at $216.

Thanks to all the hunters who took the time to share photos of their successful deer hunts, and to everyone who voted for and commented about their favorite photos. Take another look at all of the entries here.
