Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie fishing action is hot right now. Walleye, smallmouth bass, perch, crappie, northern pike, and channel cats are all being caught. Water temperature and weather is perfect for fishing. With some of the best fishing in the region, and action happening close to shore, anglers are having success.

Walleye continue to be caught along the Lake Erie shoreline as they move in from the western basin. Creek mouths are good places to fish at dusk. Big channel catfish and walleye are being caught in the areas around tributary mouths well into the night. I haven’t hooked into a big cat yet, but I am having luck fishing for walleye. The smallest¬† marble-eye I’ve caught weighed 6 1/2 pounds. The largest was 30 inches in length and over 8 pounds. Smallmouth bass, some the size of footballs, are being caught in the tributaries, along the lake shore, and in Presque Isle Bay during daylight hours.
