OTTERS UPDATE: Pelech undergoing minor wrist surgery

Erie Otters defenseman Adam Pelech will undergo what he called minor surgery Wednesday to remove the screw in his surgically repaired wrist.
“The screw really doesn’t need to be in there anymore,” he said during the club’s annual awards banquet Sunday at the Bayfront Convention Center. “(Doctors are) just going to take it out, and I can go back to rehabbing and get back to full strength.”
Pelech fractured his wrist in September, which led to a 10-week layoff. Pelech said the screw didn’t affect his play on the ice after he rejoined the lineup in December. Yet it limited his off-ice training.
He won’t be able to do upper-body training while recovering from his latest surgery.
“But it’s still early,” he said. “I’ll also be able to go the gym and do all types of stuff. It’s good that I’m getting (the screw removed). (His wrist is) probably going to get back to 100 percent quicker.”
