Erie OttersThe Erie Otters picked two players in the 2014 CHL Import Draft last month.
None are on the roster.
Second-round pick Igor Vladykovski headlined a group of 10 prospects cut Friday night, which left the club with 32 players heading into Saturday’s 5 p.m. preseason opener against Mississauga at Erie Insurance Arena. The Otters already are without first-round pick Anton Karlsson, a forward and Arizona Coyotes prospect who has chosen to play in his native Sweden. Left wing Andre Burakovsky, a 2013 CHL first-round pick, remains in camp, but he could earn a roster spot with the NHL’s Washington Capitals or AHL’s Hershey Bears.
Three other draft picks were cut – goaltenders Colton Point (14th round, 2014) and Cosimo Lazzarino (9th round, 2013), as well as forward Trayvon Henry (15th round, 2013). The departure of Point and Lazzarino leaves the team with two signed goaltending prospects – Daniel Dekoning (8th round, 2012) and Jake Lawr (2nd round, 2014) battling to back up Devin Williams this season.
Six free agents also were released – defenseman Donato Cipriano, Cameron White and Ryan Wheeler and forwards Graham Brulotte, Grant Hebert and Derek McPhail.
