Vermont loss ends Oberacker’s first season

McDowell graduate Chad Oberacker saw his first professional season conclude when the Auburn (N.Y.) Doubledays beat the visiting Vermont Lake Monters 7-2 in Friday’s third and deciding game of the teams’ New York-Penn League semifinal series.

Oberacker went 2-for-5 for the Lake Monsters, winners of the league’s Stedler Division title. He also scored one of their two runs in the top of the third inning.

Overall, Oberacker finished with a .333 batting average for the Oakland Athletics’ Single-A affiliate.
