Lennerton homers in Erie’s latest loss

Bowie, the team which started the Erie SeaWolves’ losing streak, helped resume it Thursday.
The SeaWolves dropped their fifth straight when Bowie beat them 5-2 at Prince George’s Stadium. In the opener of its seven-game road trip, Erie dropped to 4-9, last in the Eastern League’s Western Division.
Erie succumbed despite Jordan Lennerton’s league-leading sixth home run. The first baseman went deep off Bowie starter Zach Clark (1-1) to lead off the top of the second inning.
The Baysox saw Jonathan Schoop and Allan de San Miguel hit solo homers that same inning off SeaWolves starter Jared Wesson (1-1). The hosts went on to score single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innnings to up their record to 6-9.
Brandon Douglas singled twice for Erie.

The SeaWolves experienced two roster moves before the start of their road trip.
The expected one was pitcher Jay Voss, who departed Tuesday’s start before the second inning because of elbow problems, on the disabled list. The left-hander will be replaced by Mark Sorensen, who began the 2011 season with Erie and the current one with Single-A Lakeland (Fla.)
Sorensen’s first start for the SeaWolves will be Sunday afternoon at Bowie.
The other move involved left-hander Ramon Garcia, whose latest hot potato move between Erie and Toledo saw him sent to the Triple-A Mud Hens. Right-hander Patrick Cooper joined Sorensen en route to Bowie from Lakeland.
