Samuels assumes Waite’s roster spot

The Erie SeaWolves were idle on the field Easter Sunday, but not off it.

Erie experienced a roster change to its bullpen when right-hander Rob Waite was promoted to Triple-A Toledo. Waite, who made one appearance for the SeaWolves during their season-opening series at Altoona, went 4-4 for the team last season.

Taking Waite’s place will be Zach Samuels, another right-hander. Samuels, who appeared in seven games for the 2011 SeaWolves, will join the team for Monday’s opener of their three-game series at Binghamton.

The promotions were made in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers placing pitcher Doug Fister on the disabled list. Fister was hurt during the Tigers’ game against Boston on Saturday.

The Akron (Ohio) Beacon-Journal recently posted an article on David Lough. The former Mercyhurst University outfielder is back with the Omaha (Neb.) Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
