The Erie SeaWolves saw their season-opening road trip shortened by one game when bad weather wiped out Wednesday’s series finale at Binghamton. The game was called off roughly two hours before the first pitch and rescheduled as part of a July 13 Eastern League doubleheader at NYSEG Stadium.
The postponement means that Erie will carry a 2-3 record into Thursday’s home opener at Jerry Uht Park. The SeaWolves take on Bowie at 6:35 p.m.
Left-hander Jay Voss, who was supposed to start Wednesday, will get an extra day to prepare for the Baysox. Bowie is scheduled to send out Jacob Petit, another left-hander.

Erie pitcher Ramon Garcia allowed four runs and seven hits over three innings in his first season start Monday. Despite that, the Detroit Tigers promoted the veteran left-hander to Triple-A Toledo before Wednesday’s game at Binghamton was supposed to take place.
Garcia was called up to fill in for former SeaWolves pitcher Adam Wilk, whom the Tigers promoted to make a spot start Saturday. Kelvin De La Cruz is scheduled to take Garcia’s spot in the SeaWolves’ rotation, with Patrick Cooper assuming Garcia’s roster berth.
It’s the first Double-A assignment for Cooper, who was drafted by Detroit in the 14th round of Major League Baseball’s 2010 amateur draft and began this season with Single-A Lakeland (Fla.) The 22-year old Kentucky native finished 5-6 with an even 4.00 earned-run average for Single-A West Michigan in 2011.
Cooper recorded one save for the Flying Tigers over the first week of their Florida State League season.
