Akron brings the league’s best record to its first season series at Uht Park.

Harrisburg slightly slowed the Aeros during their weekend series at Canal Park, but the Cleveland Indians’ Double-A affiliate still arrives here with a 22-12 record. They’re first in the Western Division, with the idle Harrisburg Senators three games back and Erie and Richmond each 4½.

Akron’s pitching staff is ranked first in the league with a combined earned-run average of 2.72. Its ace is left-hander T.J. McFarland (6-1, 2.18), who’s expected to start Tuesday.

On offense, right fielder Jared Goedert goes into Monday with the league’s second-best batting average (.372) and first in on-base percentage (.459).

Erie catcher Rob Brantly trails Reading slugger Darin Ruf (.383) and Goedert with his .357 average. Brantly also is third in slugging percentage at .548.

SeaWolves first baseman Jordan Lennerton (seven home runs, 23 RBIs) and shortstop Niuman Romero (25 RBIs) go into the series ranked in the top five of those categories.

Erie and Akron have 6:35 p.m. games scheduled Monday and Tuesday, with Wednesday’s finale an 11:05 a.m. school kids game. Probable starting pitchers for the series are: Akron LH Giovanni Soto (3-1, 3.94 ERA) vs. Erie LH Ramon Garcia (1-2, 7.31 ERA) on Monday; LH T.J. McFarland (6-1, 2.18) vs. RH Zack Segovia (4-2, 4.31) on Tuesday and to be determined vs. LH Jared Wesson (3-2, 6.68) on Wednesday.
