The SeaWolves, currently the Eastern League’s hottest team, plays Bowie, formerly the league’s hottest team, in a three-game series that opens their seven-game homestand.
Erie won the last five games of its road trip to Harrisburg and New Britain. A victory over the Baysox in Tuesday’s opener would allow them to match their longest streak this season, achieved May 9-14.
The SeaWolves also have a chance to go two games over .500, which would equal their high-water mark this season.
Bowie won eight consecutive games before back-to-back weekend losses to New Hampshire. Despite its recent success, the Maryland club is tied with Altoona for last place in the league’s Western Division.
The Baysox make their first appearance at Uht Park since serving as Erie’s opponent for its first home series of 2012. The teams split those four games.
Bowie’s best threat on offense is Robbie Widlansky, who went into Tuesday tied with Erie’s Jordan Lennerton for third in the league in RBIs (41). Brandon Waring’s .512 slugging percentage was fifth-best.
The teams have 7:05 p.m. first pitches scheduled today and Wednesday. Thursday’s 12:05 start is the SeaWolves’ lone weekday game for June.
Probable starters for the series are: Bowie RH Zach Clark (4-4, 3.01 ERA) vs. Erie LH Jared Wesson (4-3, 6.49) today; LH Jake Pettit (4-0, 3.38 ERA) vs. RH James Avery (7-5, 3.60) Wednesday; and RH Sean Gleason (1-1, 5.79 ERA) vs. LH Kelvin De La Cruz (4-6, 3.45) Thursday.

Erie lost a starter and gained a reliever for the start of its homestand.
Zack Segovia was placed on the disabled list before Tuesday’s game. The right-hander will miss at least one start because of elbow inflammation.
Segovia, whom the Detroit Tigers signed as a minor league free agent this season, is 5-6 with a 5.98 earned-run average for Erie.
Taking Segovia’s roster spot will be Tyler Stohr. The SeaWolves’ designated right-handed closer was activated after being out of action since May 1 with the same elbow issue now that now plagues Segovia.
Stohr is 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA in eight innings over six games.
Erie manager Chris Cron largely opted for veteran Robbie Weinhardt in Stohr’s absence. Weinhardt’s six saves lead the team.

Erie must deal with the league’s current pitcher of the week winner for today’s game.
Clark was honored for limiting the Portland Sea Dogs to two hits over seven innings of Bowie’s 7-0 victory last Wednesday at Prince George’s Stadium.
Monday also saw Trenton outfielder Zoilo Almonte cited as the league’s latest player of the week winner.
