Tigers make key move getting Hunter

The Detroit Tigers didn’t waste time to make a move in free agency.

The American League champions signed outfielder Torii Hunter to a two-year, $26 million contract.

Hunter, 37, doesn’t think he’s too old to play, and the Tigers apparently don’t either.

Hunter hit .313 with 16 home runs and 92 RBIs with the Angels last season.

Hunter should hit second in the Tigers’ lineup and play right field.

Here’s what it might look like:

    • Austin Jackson, CF
    • Torii Hunter, RF
    • Miguel Cabrera, 3B
    • Prince Fielder, 1B
    • Victor Martinez, DH
    • Andy Dirks, LF
    • Jhonny Peralta, SS
    • Alex Avilia, C
    • Omar Infante, 2B

That’s not a bad lineup to try to defend your AL championship with.

A lot can happen before the first pitch even gets thrown, but the signing of Hunter keeps the Tigers among the favorites in the AL Central.
