Dombrowski has faith in Rondon

Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski recently spoke with the Detroit News about former Erie SeaWolves close Bruce Rondon. Rondon, 22, had 66 strikeouts and 1.53 ERA in 55 minor league innings last season. He is the projected closer for the Tigers this year. Dombrowski has put his faith in Rondon, stating “We’re not anointing him. But he’s a leading candidate for the job, which we think he can do.” Dombrowski told the Detroit News that Rondon has overcome some control problems and that he hopes the Tigers’ veteran catchers can stop him from overthrowing when things aren’t going well.
