Here’s who I like — and don’t:
Lots of players I’d put in my lineup in a second: Hiroki Kuroda, Derek Holland, Justin Verlander, C.J. Wilson, Hisashi Iwakuma, Gio Gonzalez, Lance Lynn, Mat Latos and Zack Greinke.
I own Zack Wheeler and I’m starting him today. … You would think A.J. Burnett would have more than 4 wins by now. … Jeremy Hellickson and the Rays are rolling, but John Lackey and the Red Sox stand in their way. I’d give a slight edge to Lackey at home. … Kyle Kendrick has 9 wins, but don’t expect No. 10 against the Cards today. A QS is a good bet, however. … Jake Peavy should be OK today, but I’m always a little nervous with a pitcher facing the Tigers. … Nothing wrong with going with Dan Straily. … Keep going with Miguel Gonzalez. … Yovani Gallardo could be pitching for another team. … Give Juan Nicasio the OK against the Marlins.
If your FA pool is thin, check out the Cubs-D’backs matchup. You could do worse than Carlos Villanueva and Wade Miley. … If Kevin Correia had a different mound opponent (Iwakuma) I’d give him sleeper status. … The Mets might struggle again on offense, so Alex Wood is viable. … I don’t like Jeremy Guthrie against the O’s. There are better options out there. … Edison Volquez can be too combustible for my tastes. However, the has the Braun-less Brewers. … Nathan Eovaldi is close to the avoid list since he’s pitching in Colorado.
Erik Bedard and Mark Buehrle face off. I’ll look the other way.
