Although the winter meetings are over, there is still plenty of offseason baseball news taking place in the Eastern League. The Washington Nationals have recently named Brian Daubach the new manager of the Harrisburg Senators. Daubach, 41, is a retired baseball player that played for the Florida Marlins (1998), Boston Red Sox (1999-2002), Chicago White Sox (2003), Boston Red Sox (2004) and New York Mets (2005). Daubach spent the past few years managing in the Nationals’ system, including this past season as the manager of High-A Potomac. He replaces Matt LeCroy, who was promoted to bullpen coach for the Nationals.
Portland also has a new manager in Billy McMillon, a former Sea Dogs player. McMillon, 42, played for the Florida Marlins (1996-97), Philadelphia Phillies (1997), Detroit Tigers (2000-01) and Oakland Athletics (2001, 2003-04). He managed High-A Salem this past season, leading the Red Sox to the Carolina League championship. McMillon replaces Kevin Boles, who was promoted to manage Triple-A Pawtucket.
