Did you like Chris Perez, Indians fans?
If you did, wait until you have John Axford pitching late in games next season.
The team and Axford agreed to a one-year deal, pending a physical.
Axford gave up 10 home runs and 39 walks in 69.1 innings in 2012. He had a WHIP of 1.442. Oh, yeah, he had nine blown saves. Not statistics you want from someone protecting a late-inning lead.
Last year, Axford gave up another 10 homers and 26 walks in 65 innings. His WHIP was 1.523. And, he had seven blown saves.
If he regains his 2011 form, when he had 46 saves for the Brewers, this could be a nice move.
However, if the past two years are any indication, Indians fans could be in for one rocky ride.
