David Lough took one for the team Saturday.
With the bases loaded in the 10th, Lough was hit by a pitch from Rangers reliever Robbie Ross. That gave the Royals the go-ahead run in a 4-1 victory.
Here’s what Lough, a Mercyhurst standout, told the Kansas City Star after the game:
It was bad. I couldn’t move my fingers or anything until 20 minutes later when I’m in here (the clubhouse). When I walked over to get an X-ray, my feeling started coming back to my fingers.
The Star reported the X-rays revealed a deep bruise, and Lough had regained 80 percent of his hand strength after the game.
Eric Hosmer on the go-ahead run:
That’s a tough way to get a run in, but we won both situations. D-Lo is all right, and we got the run out of it.
Lough, an outfielder, is hitting .289 in 38 at-bats for the Royals.

The Houston Astros once had the Killer B’s with Biggio, Bagwell and Berkman.
I don’t think the swarm of bees that took over the Los Angeles Angels’ dugout before Sunday’s game at Kansas City were of the killer variety, but it caused some problems.
LA couldn’t get into the dugout until 1.5 hours before the game and officials had to get a beekeeper to take care of the bees.
Here’s a look at how bad it was:
The Angels won the game 5-2.
