The Erie SeaWolves released their official 2013 Eastern League schedule before Saturday night’s game against the Altoona Curve at Jerry Uht Park.

Coincidence or not, those teams also will open next season on the same diamond. Erie welcomes the Curve for the first four games of a seven-game homestand, with the opener set for April 4 at 6:35 p.m.

Erie’s full 2013 schedule, with starting times for all games at Uht Park, is listed below.

The Erie SeaWolves salvaged the finale of their four-game series against Reading with Sunday’s 9-1 victory at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Erie (56-77) never trailed after its six-run first inning, highlighted by Brandon Douglas’ three-run home run. Douglas also socked a solo homer in the sixth, and finished the game with three hits, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Avisail Garcia added another three hits and an RBI for the SeaWolves, with Niuman Romero singling for his Eastern League-leading 150th hit.

Darin Ruf usurped the Erie SeaWolves’ new role as Eastern League spoilers with one mighty swing Thursday night.

Ruf, the league’s home-run leader, added to his total with a seventh-inning grand slam off Erie reliever Kelvin De La Cruz. His 33rd homer was the difference in the Phillies’ 7-6 win at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Erie, eliminated from any postseason possibilities with Wednesday’s loss to Akron, fell to 55-75 in the league’s Western Division. Its latest setback came in the opener of its final road trip for 2012.

Reading not only moved to 69-62 in the league’s Eastern Division standings, but claimed second place outright when New Hampshire beat New Britain 9-6. The Phillies and Rock Cats began Thursday tied for the division’s wild-card playoff berth.

Eastern League officials announced Wednesday that the New Britain Rock Cats will host next year’s All-Star Game. New Britain Stadium will welcome some of its best players July 10, 2013.

New Britain last hosted that game in 2003. Outfielder Grady Sizemore of the Cleveland Indians was among the current Major League Baseball players who competed in Connecticut that season.

The Erie SeaWolves have never hosted an All-Star Game since joining the league in 1999.

Sunday saw the Erie SeaWolves win their fifth straight game.

Barely.

The New Britain Rock Cats rallied from a four-run deficit over the last two innings, but Erie reliever Robbie Weinhardt persevered for his sixth save. The SeaWolves’ 4-3 victory at New Britain Stadium concluded a 5-1 road trip that left them 34-33 going into an idle Monday.

The Rock Cats dropped to 35-32 after the teams’ last regular season meeting.

Erie SeaWolves pitcher Ramon Garcia continued to toggle between wins and losses Saturday night.

Garcia, who’s alternated those decisions every start since May 14, resumed it in Erie’s 4-1 victory at New Britain. The left-hander allowed seven hits over eight innings, with the Rock Cats’ only run unearned.

The outcome extended the SeaWolves’ season-long road victory streak to four games. They’ll take a 33-33 record into Sunday’s final game against New Britain (35-31) for the Eastern League’s regular season.

Shawn Roof did what he could to help the Erie SeaWolves win during their previous four seasons.

Roof also helped the current SeaWolves accomplish that goal Friday night. Problem was, he did that as a member of the opposing team.

Now a New Britain second baseman, Roof dropped James McCann’s pop up with two on in the top of the eighth inning. His error allowed Jordan Lennerton to score the first run of Erie’s three-run rally, the difference in its 5-2 win at New Britain Stadium.

The SeaWolves’ season-high third consecutive road victory left them 32-33. Their first-inning run ended a scoreless streak of 19 innings against the Rock Cats (35-30), who blanked Erie over the final two games of the teams’ previous series at Jerry Uht Park.

A 6-0, 6-0 final in tennis is bad for the vanquished.

It’s no better a loss in baseball either, as the Erie SeaWolves will now attest.

New Britain beat the SeaWolves by 6-0 scores twice in less than 24 hours at Jerry Uht Park. The second time was Sunday afternoon, when the Rock Cats’ B.J. Hermsen and Luis Perdomo limited the hosts to five hits.

Erie, scoreless in its last 19 innings, dropped to 29-32 overall in the Eastern League’s Western Division. It’s the first time the SeaWolves have been three games under .500 since May 9.
