The Erie SeaWolves open a three-game series against the Akron Aeros tonight at 6:35.

The Aeros enter with the best record in the Eastern League (22-12), but they also have some of the hottest players in the EL.

Tuesday’s starter, T.J. McFarland, has six wins and one of the top earned-run averages in the league (2.18). McFarland (6-3, 219) is a big left-hander.

The Aeros also have the EL’s leading hitter, Jared Goedert (.372). Goedert has three home runs and 14 RBIs this season.

Another player to watch is infielder Chun Chen. Chen played in the 2010 Futures Game although he was a catcher then. Chen hit 16 home runs for Akron last season. He’s hitting .302 this season.

The Wolves might miss Steven Wright, the EL-leader in ERA, on Wednesday. Wright left his last start early on Friday.

Tonight’s starter, Giovanni Soto (3-1, 3.94 ERA) averages nearly a strikeout per inning pitched.
