The Erie SeaWolves begin a three-game series against the New Britain Rock Cats tonight at 7:05 p.m.

SeaWolves’ fans probably remember the name Shawn Roof. Roof will return to Uht Park tonight with the Rock Cats, who are two games out of first place in the Eastern Division.

There are two outfielders you should pay attention to in this series.

Aaron Hicks (6-2, 185) is rated as the Twins’ fourth-best prospect by Baseball America. The SeaWolves might not want to test the outfielder’s arm, as he has one of the better arms in the minors and is the organization’s top defensive outfielder. Hicks, who has six homers and 15 steals this season, was the Twins’ top draft pick in 2008.

Rene Tosoni (6-0, 200) had 172 at-bats with the Twins and is on Minnesota’s 40-man roster. In 10 games in Double-A, he has one homer, one steal and a .250 average.

Also, Aaron Thompson, tonight’s starter for the Rock Cats, pitched briefly for the Pittsburgh Pirates last season. Thompson made his Rock Cats debut in a 6-1 loss to the Harrisburg Senators Sunday.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Thompson recently completed a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a controlled substance during spring training.
