Mad Ants hire Joey Meyer….

Meyer has had success on the college and pro level.

Fort Wayne announced today the hiring of former DePaul coach Joey Meyer to replace Jaren Jackson, who was fired after the Mad Ants won just 19 games this past season.

The son of Hall of Fame coach Ray Meyer, Joey had success on the NCAA level in leading the Blue Demons to seven NCAA Tournament appearances and on the D-League level where he lead the now defunct Asheville Altitude to consecutive league titles in 2004 and 2005.

An interesting hire here.

I though Jackson’s flaw was getting too excitable and losing focus on the task at hand sometimes, but he recognized talent, which was something the Mad Ants had despite the W-L record.

Meyer is known for being pretty laid back from what I can recall, but we’ll see how he does since the Mad Ants and Erie BayHawks are in the same division.
