You’ve heard the deal.
The Big Shaq deal to Cleveland.
Just check his Twitter page: The_Real_Shaq.
By the way , he found out about the trade on Twitter.
The Cavaliers have acquired Shaquille O’Neal in a trade with the Phoenix Suns. The Cavs got the Diesel in exchange for Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic and a second-round pick in 2010.
The Cavaliers got the better deal for now, but the Suns improved as well.
Having O’Neal gives them an inside presence they haven’t had since LeBron James got there. Wallace’s best years are behind him while Pavlovic is expendable.
As for that second-round pick, it’s irrelevant because Cleveland is going to be one of the best teams in the NBA, again, so it’s going to be a low pick.
In Phoenix, they got ride of guy who slowed them down. Now the Suns can get back to running and gunning.
On the flip side, the question remains. Is O’Neal the final piece for Cleveland to win a title.
My gut reaction is no for three reasons.
1. O’Neal doesn’t defend. Cleveland does. Conflict.
2. He clogs the paint, which keeps James on the perimeter. Not good for Cleveland.
3. He’s not a good match up against Boston or Orlando. With a healthy Kevin Garnett, the Celtics will be back and O’Neal can’t handle Dwight Howard.
So the Cavaliers still need more.
