Late lineup…..
jackie-manuel-dunk

Jackie Manuel is the hustle guy of the late unit Erie may end games with more often this season.

This won’t take long.

What I noticed in Erie’s 102-89 win was the game-ending lineup coach John Treloar went with against the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the final day of the D-League Showcase in Boise, Idaho.

He put rookie point guard Cedric Jackson, forward Ivan Harris, newly acquired guard Mike Gansey, center John Bryant and swingman Jackie Manuel.

Harris was on one side, Gansey on the other and let Jackson penetrate to find either one of the shooters or finish or pitch it out to Bryant.

If Gansey and Harris are hitting as they were against the D-Fenders, this is a tough lineup to handle because what happens is you can get so focused on the shooters and Jackson can get to the rim and finish himself or pitch it out to Bryant for an open jumper.

On top of that, Manuel is great at tracking down loose balls and getting offensive rebounds.

Now you can’t forget Alade Aminu, who had 30 points and 23 rebounds in Wednessday’s win against the Reno Bighorns. The only difference is he’d be around the rim to get an assist from Jackson whereas Bryant would be more on the perimeter.

Let’s see how this evolves once Erie returns home for three straight games starting against Fort Wayne Saturday night.
