Yo D, what’s up with those NBA trades…

Jamison was all smiles during Thursday's press conference after being traded from Washington to Cleveland in a three-team deal.

“HONK HONK! Yo D! What’s up, my man?”

Hey. What’s good with you? It’s been a minute. Like that new ride you got there.

“Yeah. You know how I do. Listen, I know you been busy checking out those NBA trades that went down before Thursday’s deadline. What you think about the Cavaliers getting Antawn Jamison and only giving up Zydrunas Ilgauskas and a first-round draft pick?”

Well, since people expect the Wizards to buy out Z’s contract and waive him, thus giving Z a chance to go back to the Cavaliers? If that works out, then it’s a great deal. That draft pick will be a late first-rounder anyway because the Cavaliers will have the best record in the NBA after the regular season.

“Wwwwooooooooow!. That’s crazy. Jamison does give them more flexibility because he can shoot from deep and score in the paint, but he needs to come off the bench, though. J.J. Hickson is balling right now for the Cavaliers as a starter.”

I agree. Plus you don’t know what going to the bench will do to Hickson mentally. He may just fold up. He plays better as a starter. He views himself as a starter. Now coming off the bench? That would be tough.

“OK. Hey look, I’m going out of town this weekend so I got to get ready to head out tomorrow morning. But before I go, what you think of of the other deals. I heard Kenny Smith on TNT talking about Nate Robinson going from New York to Boston is a trade that went under the radar.”

I agree with Kenny. I was watching that last night, too. Nate can put the ball in the hole, but I like the Tyrus Thomas deal to Charlotte. I mean, people talk about the Dallas Mavericks getting Caron Butler, but the Bobcats needed an athletic big man and Thomas gives them that. Plus coach Larry Brown may push the right buttons to get Thomas to play to his potential.

“Not sure about that. TT can be a headcase, but he’s got talent. Alright guy, I’m out. You stay up.”

You too. Be safe this weekend.
