Maybe Mike James was destined to land in Chicago…

Mike James, right, and 2010-11 NBA MVP Derrick Rose were chatting it up in Houston in November. Two months later, they're teammates with the Chicago Bulls./AP Photo.

Check this out.

Here’s a photo of Mike James talking to Derrick Rose at the Houston Lockout Celebrity Basketball Game hosted by former NBA player and coach John Lucas, on Nov. 20, 2011, in Houston.

Two months later, they’re teammates.

The irony is Rose missing Wednesday’s game against the Washington Wizards after reigniting up a turf toe injury in a win Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves likely triggered the Chicago Bulls to get a backup point guard.

James played three games for the Erie BayHawks in the D-League before the Bulls called him up Wednesday. He was coming off his worst game – 6 points on 3-of-9 shooting and five turnovers – in Erie’s 111-88 loss Tuesday to Austin in the D-League Showcase in Reno, but got called up.

Maybe it was meant to be.
