On Monday, the Erie BayHawks added point guard Tyrone Brazelton, a 6-1, 180-pound point guard who averaged 14.4 in his senior season in helping Western Kentucky reach the Sweet 16 in 2008.
Out of Chicago, Brazelton has played professionally in Poland and Latvia. Brazelton was a college teammate of Courtney Lee, who is the NBA with the Houston Rockets.
The BayHawks lost Mike James, who left the team after Sunday’s loss to Dakota and signed with the Chicago Bulls today. When asked what Brazelton brings to the team, Erie coach Jay Larranaga said the following:
“He gives us a really good point guard,” Larranaga said. “Can run a team. Can pressure the ball. Toughness. Everything that a point guard should be. It’s what people tell me he is. I’ve seen him play a little bit on video, but based on the first practice (today), I feel really good that he’ll be able to blend in with the rest of the guys.”
