After splitting a two-game road trip against the Dakota Wizards, Erie will conclude the third of a back-to-back-to-back series of games tonight against the defending D-League champion Iowa Energy at Tullio Arena.
The BayHawks (23-21) arrived in Erie at 3:30 this afternoon after beginning a long trip back from Bismarck, N.D. with a 5 a.m. flight.
Tonight’s 8 o’clock game is a continuation of the March 8th one referees stopped due to unplayable floor conditions at Tullio Arena. The game will resume with Erie leading 14-13 with 3 minutes, 29 seconds left in the first quarter.
Iowa (23-20) has a half game lead on Erie for the eighth and final playoff spot. In looking the teams who have the fifth through eight spots in the playoff chase, Erie is 2-2 against Springfield (24-19), 1-1 against Texas (24-20) and Iowa, 1-3 against Dakota (24-20).
The BayHawks has one more game against Springfield on April 3 at home. Tonight is their last game against Iowa and don’t have any more games against Dakota or Texas.
Canton is atop the East Conference with a 26-19 record. With five games left, the Charge are 2-1/2 games ahead of Erie, but the BayHawks have two more games against them on April 6 at home and April 7 on the road in their regular-season finale.
