First look: Malik Cooke
Here’s a quick look at who the Erie BayHawks picked in Friday’s 2012 D-League Draft. The BayHawks drafted Malik Cooke in the fourth round. The BayHawks start training camp Nov. 10.
Fourth round — Malik Cooke (6-6, 215, F, South Carolina)
Date of birth: Oct. 14, 1989
Hometown: Charlotte, NC.
Background: Averaged a team-high 12.3 points his senior year at South Carolina. Played his first two years in college at Nevada before transferring to South Carolina as a walk-on. His father, Sam Cooke, played college basketball at West Virginia State, which is where Earl Lloyd, the first black to play in the NBA, went to school.
