Erik Daniels hit a 3-pointer with 26.3 seconds left in lifting the Erie BayHawks to a 82-80 win in their home opener Saturday night before a sellout crowd of 4,951 at Erie Insurance Arena.
A first-round pick of the BayHawks in their 2008-09 expansion season, Daniels also played for Erie in 2010-11 before returning for a third stint earlier this week. The BayHawks were down by as many as 15 points before avenging a 91-80 loss at Canton on Friday night.
Henry Sims scored a team-high 19 points to lead the BayHawks (2-1). Keith Benson chipped in 13 points while D.J. Kennedy and Oscar Bellfield each had 12. Kyle Gibson scored a game-high 28 points for the Charge (1-4) with 17 coming in the first half.
Erie returns to action Thursday night against the Maine Red Claws.
