This picture is hanging on my wall. Check out the fro people. Dr. J. was one of the all-time great leapers, period.

These guys did more than just jump out the gym.

They made you go, “Oh lawd” like the late Bernie Mac used to say.

We’ll always miss you, Bernie.

Anyway, these guys had crazy hops and did things that no one else can duplicate. You got guys who can dunk, but can they have the hang time, elevation and do so with a forcefulness?

That’s the definition of a leaper to me.

So before continuing, you know the routine people.

These guys are not on my list: Kenny “Sky” Walker, Dee Brown, Harold Minor, Dwight Howard, Blake Griffin (he may be in the future if he stays healthy), Larry Nance, Steve Francis, Kobe Bryant, J.R. Rider, Josh Smith or Gerald Green.

Remember Dee Brown? Classic leaner blind dunk from back in the day. Still one of the best ever in an NBA Dunk Contest.

In looking over the Erie BayHawks 2010-11 schedule, I’ve tried to figure out what are their must-see games.

The one thing that caught my eye was training camp starts Nov. 7 and ends Nov. 17. Two days later, they open the season at home against the Springfield Armor, who is coached by former NBA Slam Dunk champion, Dee Brown.

However, it’s hard to really pinpoint any of the regular-season games other than the season opener because you’ve got to see the rosters to know who’s coming to town.

Even then, by the time that team plays here, the player you wanted to see might not even be on the team. He may be in the NBA or overseas.

So I’ll try to look past that and let you know the must-see games on Erie’s schedule this season.

Got to give them credit.

The Erie BayHawks could have folded tonight, but they took Springfield out in the fourth quarter to prevail, 107-90.

The Springfield Armor have the D-League’s worst record, but they have the most recognizable coach in the league – Dee Brown.

Ya’ll remember the no-look dunk he pulled off in the 1991 NBA Slam Dunk Contest after pumping his black Reebok shoes up.

He did his thing.

Well, Brown and his Armor are coming to Erie for Friday’s game at Tullio Arena against the BayHawks. In the meantime, let’s go back to memory lane shall we.
