The Erie BayHawks know the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers well.

The Cavs (13-20) were the main one of Erie’s two NBA affiliates in its first three D-League seasons before the Knicks (18-18) became its sole hybrid affiliate this season.

Tonight, the new (Knicks) beat the old (Cavs), 120-103, at Madison Square Garden. The outcome was a 34-point swing as Cleveland lead by as many as 17 points late in the second half before the Knicks came back to win by that same margin.

Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin finished with 19 points, 13 assists, five rebounds only one turnover and a bloody nose. in the first quarter, Cavaliers forward Omri Casspi chopped down over Lin’s nose in trying to swat the ball out of his hands.

Can’t blame this on Carmelo Anthony can you?

Can you?

After missing seven games with a groin injury, the NBA All-Star saw his first action with the New York Knicks since Jeremy Lin has turned their season around.

Tonight, the Knicks lost to the lowly New Jersey Nets, 100-92, at Madison Square Garden. The last time the Knicks saw the Nets, Lin had 25 points off the bench in a 99-92 win Feb. 4.

The Knicks went 7-1 with Lin starting before Anthony came back tonight. In his return, Anthony shot 4-of-11 for 11 points in 37 minutes. Anthony had six assists, which shows he can share the ball, but also had six turnovers, which shows he can share it with the other team, too.

LeBron James and the Miami Heat head to Los Angeles for a Christmas Day showdown with the Lakers.

The NBA has five games scheduled for Christmas Day with the big one being the Miami Heat taking on the L.A. Lakers in Los Angeles.

You’ve got Miami’s Big 3 going up against the two-time NBA champions with all the celebrities sitting courtside.

By the time that game comes on, I’m might be snoozing after eating my mom’s turkey and dressing, but as long as I wake up by the fourth quarter, I’m good to go.

Anyway, the other four games aren’t too shabby either, but is each one worth missing out on a meal or gift giving? Will you fall asleep on them or fight fatigue to tune in? Here’s how I see the appeal of the five games on a scale from 1-10.

On the eve of two-time NBA MVP LeBron James being able to declare himself a free agent July 1, I asked basketball fans in Erie one simple question Tuesday.

Should James stay in Cleveland with the Cavaliers or go elsewhere?

Here’s what they said.

Instead of NYC, columnist Sam Smith believes LeBron may join Kobe Bryant in L.A.

With the Cleveland Cavaliers playing at the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden tonight on ESPN (8 p.m.), it gives reason to discuss the possibility of LeBron James playing for the Knicks or the New Jersey Nets after this season.

James will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. Just for argument sake, check out Sam Smith’s column on the idea that James may head to Los Angeles to join Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.

Now, the question isn’t will or will he not go. It’s more of should he go.

My take?
