The Erie BayHawks were part of the top two plays of the D-League Top 5 Plays of the Week for Dec. 17-24.

No. 2. Mychel Thompson’s reverse lay up at Springfield. The BayHawks won 127-119.

No. 1. Boston Celtics rookie 7-footer Fab Melo blocked a D-League single-game record 14 shots for the Maine Red Claws against BayHawks. Erie won the game, 85-78.

Me personally, the best play of them all is No. 3: JaJuan Johnson, who used to play for the Boston Celtics, served up a facial on Melo.

Nasty.

Erik Daniels hit a 3-pointer with 26.3 seconds left in lifting the Erie BayHawks to a 82-80 win in their home opener Saturday night before a sellout crowd of 4,951 at Erie Insurance Arena.

Henry Sims scored a team-high 19 points to lead the BayHawks (2-1).  Keith Benson chipped in 13 points while D.J. Kennedy and Oscar Bellfield each had 12. Kyle Gibson scored a game-high 28 points for the Charge (1-4) with 17 coming in the first half.
