I sat down with NBA Development League President Dan Reed for an interview before the Erie BayHawks played the Iowa Energy on Friday night at Erie Insurance Arena.

In Part 2, I asked Reed about the BayHawks, who have reached the playoffs in three of their first four D-League seasons. Erie is 3-4 so far this season.

On Wednesday, Kyle Goldcamp returned to the Erie BayHawks as a practice player. A 6-foot, 10-inch, 250-pound power forward, Goldcamp has played three seasons with the BayHawks.

The former Gannon University standout averaged 14 points and 8.4 rebounds last season. Erie has to waive a player to add him to the 10-man active roster. The BayHawks (2-4) play Iowa (2-3) Friday at Erie Insurance Arena.

The Erie BayHawks dipped below .500 for the first time this season after losing Friday night at Sioux Falls, which is only unbeaten team left in the D-League.

Former NBA point guard Troy Hudson led the Skyforce (5-0) with 27 points. D.J. Kennedy paced the BayHawks (2-3) with a game-high 28 points and eight rebounds. Here are highlights from last night’s game.

Once college rivals, rookies Henry Sims and Fab Melo will square off against each other when the Maine Red Claws face the Erie BayHawks on Thursday night at Erie Insurance Arena.

Sims played at Georgetown while Melo, a first-round pick of the Boston Celtics, played at Syracuse. Sims is coming off a 19-point performance in Erie’s 82-80 win Saturday night against the Canton Charge.

The Celtics sent the 7-foot Melo down to Maine where he is averaging seven points and two blocks.

Erie BayHawks combo guard Demonte Harper didn’t play for Sean Woods.

So he was never subject to the outbursts Woods has had on the sidelines at Morehead State. Last week, he and the nation saw Woods erupt on Devon Atkinson during an 81-70 loss at Kentucky.

Before this, Morehead State had become known for pulling off upsets in the NCAA Tournament and Kenneth Faried, who has become an impact player with the Denver Nuggets.

In fact, Harper hit a game winner to beat Louisville in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, but he’s confident the Woods’ situation won’t disrupt the program. Woods is in his first season at Morehead State.

“It is what it is,” said Harper, who ended his career at Morehead State in 2010-11. “Everybody makes mistakes. He just happened to make a mistake on national TV. I don’t think it’s going to cause too much harm to the program.”

Woods was suspended for a game and returned for Wednesday’s game at Marshall. Morehead State lost, 70-67.

“After a while, once they continue winning, I think all that will go away,” Harper said. “He just made a mistake. Everybody does it. We’re all human. We make mistakes. Hopefully he can learn from it and continue to have success with the school.”

Power forward Erik Daniels rejoined the Erie BayHawks as a practice player after two previous stints with the D-League team.

In Erie’s 2008-09 expansion season, Daniels, 30, averaged 21.1 points and 10 rebounds. He returned late in the 2010-11 season and averaged 14.3 points in 12 regular-season games. He averaged 19 points in the postseason.

The BayHawks (1-0) will have to waive a player to add Daniels. They have a full 10-man roster. The BayHawks play at Canton on Friday night before playing their home opener Saturday against the Charge.
