Stauffer in familiar WNYPGA position

Kirk Stauffer, the 8-time Western New York Section PGA player of the year, leads in the point standings going into this week’s tournaments.

In his 29th year as head pro of Pine Acres CC in Bradford, Stauffer has 536 points and a 70.73 stroke per round average. Peek’n Peak head pro Dwayne Randall is second with 486.5 points, and Kahkwa assistant Alex Weir third with 363 points.

Stauffer, 52, won his second WNYPGA Section Championship in July at Whispering Woods Golf Club, shooting 31 on the front side the second day and a course-record 6-under-par 66 to win by seven strokes. He was top qualifier for the PGA  National Championship at Myrtle Beach, S.C. in June 2014.
