The Eastside YMCA will again host the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition, and this year the Y will also host the sectional event at Veterans Stadium. See the full release below.

The Eastside Family YMCA will again be a local host of the annual NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition. NFL PP&K is FREE TO THE PUBLIC (you do not have to be a Y member or participant) and is a great chance for local youth to show off their skills. The competition is for youth ages 6 – 12 (boys & girls separate) and will be held Saturday, September 10 with registration at 8:30 AM. You may pre-register online at www.ymcaerie.org/eastside/leagues. Each participant must provide a birth certificate and must WEAR SNEAKERS. Winners from each division will advance to the Sectional Event at Erie’s Veterans Stadium to compete for a spot in the Team Championship at a Pittsburgh Steelers game. The Fort LeBoeuf boys basketball program is offering clinics to all boys in grades 2-8 on Mondays in October. There will be two sessions with grades 2-3-4 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. and grades 5-6-7-8 from 7:15 p.m.-8:30 p.m. The program will focus on developing of the proper skills and fundamentals needed to compete and make the team. All sessions will be held at Fort LeBoeuf High School gymnasium. Please call Bison Head Coach Kevin O’Connor at 490-7121 to register. Deadline to register is Oct. 2. Clinic dates are Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24.

Warning, this is ugly. Things got out of hand when a group of youth football coaches in Sarasota, Fla., disagreed with an official’s call and wound up brawling with the official, who ended up being form tackled by one of the players.

Erie resident Carl Palotas, 12, finished third in the U.S. Kids Golf Tournament Aug. 8 at Strawberry Ridge in Harmony, Pa. He shot 90 against a field of 14 other golfers in his division.

With Harborcreek’s 11-year-old Little League team still alive at the Section 1 tournament, Wesleyville Mayor’s Cup tournament director Tom Roberts announced changes to this year’s schedule:

 

ATTENTION:

 

CHANGES FOR THE MAYOR’S CUP. HARBORCREEK 11 HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL AT THE SECTION TOURNAMENT AND HAS TO PULL OUT. THAT MEANS THAT ERIE WILL PLAY FLAG MONDAY AT 6 PM.

 

ALSO NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES:

 

1.GAME 15 BETWEEN LEBOEUF AND MYAA-AMERICAN WILL BE AT 6 PM ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 27TH.

 

2. GAME 18 HAS BEEN MOVED TO FRIDAY 7/29 AT 6 PM. THIS IS BETWEEN IROQUOIS AND EITHER CORRY OR ERIE(11).
