The Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling postseason starts today with the first of northwestern Pennsylvania’s three section tournaments.

The Area 8 Section 2 tournament is scheduled for today at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. at the North East Elementary Center. Section 2 teams are Blessed Sacrament, Central East, Boys & Girls Club of Erie, Harborcreek, Iroquois, McDowell, North East, Our Lady’s Christian, St. James, Team Erie and Wattsburg.

Section 1 competition starts Saturday at 9 a.m. at Maplewood Junior/Senior High School. Competing teams are from Cambridge Springs, Edinboro, Fairview, Fort LeBoeuf, General McLane, Girard, Northwestern and St. George.

The Section 3 tournament is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m. at Youngsville High School. Competing teams are Corry, East Forest, Eisenhower, Sheffield, Union City, Warren, West Forest and Youngsville.

The Area 8 championships are scheduled for March 18-19 at Corry Area Senior High School. The PJW Tournament will be wrestled March 25 in Wilkes-Barre.

The Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling tournament, hosted by Tullio Arena in back-to-back years a few years ago, is headed to the Hershey-Harrisburg area for the next three years after the latest round of bidding for the state’s largest youth wrestling event. Erie was among the losing bidders. Below is the full release:
