Erie National Wildlife Refuge photo contest

The Erie National Wildlife Refuge-presented 12th biennial Nature Photo Contest runs through Sept. 28.

The contest, sponsored by the Friends of Erie National Wildlife Refuge Inc. and Presque Isle Audubon Society, will award cash prizes to first ($50) and second place ($25) and ribbons to third place and honorable mention in three categories: Plant life, wildlife and landscape.

A $75 award will go to the photographer who takes the best photo on ENWR, and a $25 award will go to the best student (under 18) photo.

The contest is open to amateurs — those who make less than half their living from photography.

Photos must be 8×10, 9×12 or 11×14, matted and unframed. Photos should be labeled on the back: Name, address, telephone number, age (fi 18 or under), title of photo, entry category, and specified if it was taken on the refuge.

Enter as many as eight photos at $5 per photo, digital or film, black and white or color. Make checks payable to Friends of Erie National Wildlife Refuge and mail or deliver to Erie National Wildlife Refuge, 11296 Wood Duck Lane, Guys Mills, PA 16327. Call 789-3585 to verify office hours before delivering in person.

Entry deadline is Sept. 28.

Judging will occur Oct. 11, followed by an awards reception the same day at 1:30 p.m. Photographs will remain on display at the refuge headquarters through Nov. 13.

Good luck.
