Basic boating course on May 1

Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission staff will lead a free 8-hour Basic Boating Course on Saturday at the Corry Higher Education Building, 221 North Center St., Corry.

The course will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a lunch break. Seating is limited; preregister by calling (814) 664-9405.

Anyone born Jan. 1, 1982, or later must obtain a state Boating Safety Education Certificate in order to operate a boat with a motor greater than 25hp. All personal watercraft pilots also must have a license.

The course content and final test are designed for participants 12 and older.
