Steelhead Weekend agenda

Lake Erie Ultimate Angler’s Steelhead Weekend Nov. 5-6 promises something for new and veteran anglers alike. Check out the schedule below, then check out a session at the shop, 3737 W. 12th St.

Friday:

6:30-7:30 p.m. Steelhead Crash Course. Learn the basics of how we approach steelhead from a guide’s perspective.

7:30-? Drinks, snacks, movies about fish in the background, a lot of BS’ing by fisherman!

Saturday:

9-10:30 a.m. Fishing the Catt. Join us for a presentation that goes over tactics and areas to fish on Cattaraugus Creek.

11 a.m.-noon Jeff Blood, what steelhead eat. Join Jeff Blood for a class on what egg patterns really look like and how he ties them.

Noon-1 p.m. Steelhead Crash Course. Want to know how a guide approaches steelhead fishing? This is the class. Hosted by Steve Brugger.

1-2 p.m. Casting workshop with Gary Kell. Have a hitch in your cast? Work with a pro to get back on track.

2-3 p.m. Tying demo with Bob Schoeller. Want to see some flies that a) catch fish like crazy, b) are not the same old stuff and c) look incredible? This is the demo to see.

3-3:30 p.m. Switch rods explained. You know what switch rods are, but how do they play into our local fishery? This class will show the basic cast with single-handed rods and double-handed rods, and answer the most important question: why use them?

3:30-4 p.m. Weather permitting, go outside and give try out a switch rod. Everyone should try these just to see what all the fuss is about.
