Improving the North Country Trail in Pennsylvania
The Allegheny National Forest chapter of the North Country Trail Association celebrated National Trails Day with a camp night June 3 at Amsler Springs shelter and a volunteer work day June 4 near Guiton Run, off Salmon Creek in Forest County.

The chapter provided tools and hard hats to two crews totaling 18 members.
A trail crew worked a half-mile stretch of trail brushing and side-hill benching and a Student Conservation Association crew worked on a deep ditch, but both were forced off by thunderstorms about 1:30 p.m. June 4. The trail crew returned Sunday morning and was done with its work by noon.
Read more about the effort from volunteers who were there.
The North Country Trail in the Allegheny National Forest runs from the New York border through McKean County, Warren County and Forest County.
