Skip Hughes is on quite a roll.

The owner of Mile Creek Custom Rods, in Harborcreek Township, worked his pheasant tail off in 2011 to establish an Erie chapter of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Inc., which assists in the rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans. The introductory meeting is today at the Erie Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Now Hughes also is involved in the startup of the Northwest Pennsylvania Fishing Association, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of all sport fishing in northwestern Pennsylvania. The group also will be the prime sponsor for the Project Healing Waters chapter.

You can get involved, too. Memberships will be available soon for $10 each. And an introductory meeting is scheduled for March 14 at 6 p.m. at Chico’s Travelers Inn, 7294 W. Ridge Road, Fairview.
