FLW Outdoors, the organization that puts on the world’s most lucrative bass fishing event and runs a series of tiered pro tournaments, is bringing two events to Erie Sept. 9-11.
The organizers hope you’ll be willing to help make both events successful.
The American Fishing Series Northern Division tournament on Lake Erie will take place all three days, with public weigh-ins starting at 2:30 p.m. each day at Presque Isle State Park. The winner could earn as much as $25,000 and possibly a new Ranger boat.
The FLW National Guard College Fishing event on Lake Erie is in need of more than weigh-in spectators: Organizers need 40 volunteers who can bring their own boats.
Volunteers will launch the boat ahead of the 6 a.m. pre-tournament meeting to be prepared for the 6:30 a.m. takeoff. They’ll also run the boat’s main motor and serve as boat captain. College anglers run the trolling motor and determine fishing spots.
What volunteers won’t do: Fish or net fish; provide tackle or PFDs; or provide or help obtain GPS coordinates, fishing locations or specific bait information for college anglers.
FLW Outdoors will provide a net, culling clips, measuring board and Rejuvenade.
Takeoff and weigh-in are at Presque Isle State Park.
