There may be a fly-fishing honor that hasn’t been presented to Joe Humphreys. But probably not. However overcrowded his mantle, he’ll have a new award to make room for in April.

Humphreys is among the inductees in the 19th class of Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. The induction banquet is April 15 at the Hilton Harrisburg. Details and costs will be posted soon.

Humphreys coached Kittanning, Penns Valley and Bald Eagle Area high school programs during a long career. He also assisted Bill Koll at his alma mater, Penn State and did radio and television work for the sport.

Even if he’s best known as a fly-fishing author, educator and broadcaster, and as a proud Penn State alumnus, it’s refreshing to see his service and success in another area rewarded.
