Villa Maria grad McBride scores 1,000th for Notre Dame

Villa Maria graduate Kayla McBride reached a milestone with the Notre Dame women’s basketball team Tuesday night.

The 5-foot 11-inch junior guard scored a career-high 25 points to reach 1,000 career points as the No. 2 Fighting Irish defeated No. 22 Syracuse 79-68 in Big East action at Purcell Pavilion.

McBride entered the season with 617 career points and currently stands at 1,010. She is the 31st player in Notre Dame history to reach the milestone. Beth Morgan is Notre Dame’s all-time scorer with 2,322 points.

McBride ranks second on the team this season with an average of 14.6 points per game.

She also reached 1,000 points during her career at Villa and is the school’s all-time scorer with 1,727 points.
