Former Fort LeBoeuf volleyball star Maria Peluso turned in an outstanding performance Friday while helping Shippensburg sweep Mercyhurst and Gannon at Pitt-Johnstown’s Sports Center.
Peluso, a 5-foot 8-inch freshman who has been playing libero for the Raiders, returned to the outside hitter position where she starred at LeBoeuf.
She responded by recording a career-best 18 kills on just four errors in Shippensburg’s five-set win over Mercyhurst. Peluso recorded a .412 swinging percentage and added 10 digs for her second career double-double. She also had the kill that clinched the match.
Peluso’s hitting was not as hot against Gannon, but she did finish with eight kills and tied for a match high with 22 digs in the Raiders’ four-set win.
Shippensburg (16-6 overall, 8-3 PSAC) will face Edinboro and Slippery Rock today.
