Jim and Juanita Kennedy can’t manage to climb the McComb Fieldhouse stairs anymore, but the couple are always seen at one end or the other of the lengthy scoring table to watch Edinboro basketball.

“We’ve  been watching games for 40 years now, and since it’s difficult to sit in the stands, they have been kind to us and let us sit here,” Juanita Kennedy said.

With McComb having bleachers on both sides, the couple doesn’t have the luxury of chair seats that Gannon University has at the Hammermill Center, where some of  the fans who are senior citizens have been watching the Knights since the 1960s.

Jim Kennedy has ties to the program. He was an assistant women’s basketball coach under Judy Saurer in the early 1980s. Saurer, who lives in Erie during the summer and is a mainstay in local golf circles at the Kahkwa Club, also successfully  coached at Pitt and Gannon.

“Judy was a good coach, but I must say that she was a  piece of work,” Jim Kennedy said with a laugh.
