In a continuing series of Q&As with local players who are playing local college football, Duane Rankin caught up with Mercyhurst College senior free safety Bryant Kimball to talk about a variety of interesting topics.

A McDowell High graduate, Kimball has been a four-year starter for the Lakers. He’s made 209 career tackles and six interceptions in helping Mercyhurst go from having losing records to winning the 2010 PSAC title in just their third season in the conference.

Saturday at 1 p.m., Kimball and the Lakers (3-1, 1-0) will try to stay perfect in PSAC West play as they face Gannon (1-3, 0-1) at Tullio Field. Mercyhurst had won four straight against the Knights before losing to its hated city rivals, 14-10, last season at Gannon University Field.

The 5-foot, 11-inch, 172-pound Kimball will play in his last homecoming game for the Lakers on Saturday. He and Rankin discussed his time at Mercyhurst, his little brother, Mercyhurst freshman Colin Kimball, winning an Rock Erie Music Award and hair.
