Let’s recap Week 14, shall we?

Game of the week: No. 2 Alabama vs. No. 3 Georgia

Final score: Tide 32, Bulldogs 28

Pregame rant: Some would say this is the national championship game.

The winner will likely be the favorite to beat Notre Dame in next month’s BCS title game.  Alabama and Georgia are in this position because Oregon and Kansas State lost.

The Bulldogs are not as good on defense as Alabama, but have better skilled players on offense than the Tide.

So special teams could be the difference. If it is, edge Alabama.

The Tide have a senior kicker in Jeremy Shelley, who is 10-for-10 on field goals this season.

Georgia has a freshman kicker in Marshall Morgan, who is 8-for-12.  He’s missed two of his last four attempts.

Here’s a video preview of the Alabama-Penn State done by philly.com.

Check out Penn State coach Joe Paterno and his players talk about Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. game which will be nationally televised on ABC.

The No. 3 Crimson Tide (1-0) beat Penn State last season, 24-3, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. This year, the No. 23 Nittany Lions (1-0) will look to avenge that defeat at home.

Both teams won their season openers in convincing fashion. Alabama trounced Kent State, 48-7, while Penn State beat FCS school Indiana State, 41-7.

Marie Case of Erie sent the competition tumbling Sunday in her debut for the Kent State gymnastics team.

Case, a Mercyhurst Prep graduate and former Lakettes Gymnastics Academy student, won the all-around, floor and beam and finished second on the vault to lead the Flashes past Maryland 194.775-193.125 in Kent, Ohio.

“She performed well, and her teammates did a tremendous job helping her with solid performances of their own,” Kent State coach Brice Biggin said. “She certainly had a great meet, and we’re more than pleased with how she performed.”

Check out a photo gallery from the competition.
