Shippensburg freshman guard Abe Massaley, who put on a superb show with 27 points in Wednesday’s 84-81 PSAC crossover loss at Edinboro, might be remembered by Erie high school hoops fans as a senior at Imhotep Charter.
Massaley scored 21 points in two games as Imhotep Charter won back-to-back games to win the Burger King Classic at the Hammermill Center. The Philadelphia power beat host Cathedral Prep in the opener.
After the Edinboro loss, Fighting Scots first-year coach Pat Cleary raved about Massaley, the quick 6-foot guard who could take it to the hoop and easily shoot the 3.
“Fantastic player. He’s the best freshman I’ve seen in the conference,” Cleary said.
