How Erie-area high school graduates are faring in college swimming:

  1. Morgan Anderson (Fairview) helped Purchase College win the Skyline Conference championship with a second-team all-conference finish in the 400 freestyle relay.
  2. Brittany DiSanti (Harbor Creek) was 17th in 3-meter dive preliminaries and 24th on the 1-meter board for Pittsburgh at the Big East championships.
  3. Joe Glowacki (Cathedral Prep) was fifth for Connecticut in the 200 butterfly consolations at the Big East championships.
  4. Kelsey Herbst (McDowell) helped Pitt finish fifth in the 400 freestyle relay at the Big East championships. She also was sixth in the 1,650 freestyle.
  5. John Hill (Cathedral Prep) was second in the 200 freestyle in Dartmouth’s 161-138 loss to Columbia.
  6. Kaitlyn Karl (McDowell) of Seton Hall was 33rd in the 1-meter preliminary dive at the Big East championships.
  7. Joseph Stark (Cathedral Prep) helped Navy clinch its eighth straight Patriot League championship with a fourth-place finish in the 200 backstroke.
  8. Check out the former Erie swimmers who made the all-Presidents’ Athletic Conference teams: Grove City’s Cam Coppelli (Saegertown) and Eric Fairchild (Corry); Washington & Jefferson’s Andy Rish (Cathedral Prep); and Westminster’s Ryan Taylor (Fairview) and Erin Erdley (Cochranton).
  9. Julia Adams and Megan Carrig helped John Carroll continue a string of top-three finishes at the Ohio Athletic Conference championships that started in 1990.

Adams, a sophomore who attended Collegiate Academy, set three OAC records and made three NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standards. She was named OAC women’s swimmer of the year.

Adams erased her own 200 backstroke conference record — by more than 3 seconds — in the preliminaries in 2:07.17. Then she beat her new record by nearly a second to win the event title in 2:06.27.

Adams also won the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, and was on the third-place 200 freestyle relay, the second-place 400 medley relay, the second-place 800 freestyle relay, the third-place 400 freestyle relay. She also was part of the second-place 200 medley time trial team for JCU.

Carrig finished seventh in the 1,650 free, eighth in the 400 IM and swam the preliminaries in the 500 free and 400 IM.
